Gifu, Japan, formerly famous for lanterns, cormorant fishing, and night life, is now known for its awesome skaters! After thirty-one happy-go-lucky inliners gained new knowledge and talent, the city was all abuzz with the excitement of having been rocked by the Eddy Matzger Workshop..

The Nagaragawa River Park, with its baby-bottom smooth pavement, was the perfect spawning grounds for new skater talent to develop. Elementary students, Junior high schoolers and mama and papa-sans alike came out in full force to eat up all the good stuff.

Locals Koji and Ai know how to attract skaters from all over! For example, Meg and Shin came all the way from Hiroshima to experience the workshop spirit.

The chalk was flying for skaters to use as templates to trace with their wheels. Skaters could get a feel for where their feet had to be and convert it to memory before venturing out on unmarked pavement.

Unbelievably attentive, and talented to boot, Japanese skaters will someday soon rise to the top. Just give them a little time, some more open roads, and a few more workshops! Gambatenay!

Special thanks to TWINCAM, Wigwam, Transpack, Bobward, Barrie,Raymond Verdaguer artwork, and Ai and Koji for their wonderfully crazy devotion to the inline animal.
