It's boom time for skating in Korea! ILQ-9 is never far from the action. 6,000 skaters were lucky enough to secure a start number for the Seoul Half Marathon on June 1st, 2003. Many thousands more were turned away. Part race, part family festival, not much else in the world of inline racing even comes close to generating this kind of dynamic frenzy.

K2, John Svensson, and the Seoul Marathon facilitated TWINCAM skater Eddy Matzger's guest participation in the event. Matzger found the Koreans every bit fit and fast enough to participate on the world stage. Korean skaters showed that they race with honor and integrity and are ready to take this sport to the next level.

There were fireworks aplenty. Boom boom kaboom at the start. Attacks from left, right, front rear, and center by a camera-toting Eddy on his ILQ-9 ceramic setup with 100 mm wheels during the race. And a thrilling hawking finish where the Korean Fila skater edged the TWINCAM skater at the camera line (set up in advance of the finish) but was second to TWINCAM at the actual finish line. It was agreed that the camera line be used as the finish for the overall results.

Bands rocked and inline clubs rolled around in brightly colored shirts under beautiful sunny skies. A large expo area with tents helped consumers make informed choices about skates, clothing, equipment, and accessories.

Special thanks to TWINCAM, Powerinline Sports Shop, Svenny, W.K., Sung Ho, Y.S., H.S., Mrs. Park, Ms. Cho, Mr. Allen, Jake, workshop students, and many others for all the unconditional kindesses and generosities while in the new promised land of inline skating.
